Wedoany.com Report on Feb 12th, The Shandong Provincial Department of Transport in China officially announced the scope of the drone-friendly airspace for micro, light, and small unmanned aircraft on February 12. This delineation is based on the blue-marked areas specified in the "Scope of Drone-Friendly Airspace for Micro, Light, and Small Unmanned Aircraft in Shandong Province." It clearly designates the area below a true altitude of 120 meters as the permitted flight zone. Users can query the specific scope and airspace status through the National Integrated Supervision and Management Service Platform for Unmanned Aircraft (UOM).

In accordance with the "Interim Regulations on Flight Management of Unmanned Aircraft" and the "Shandong Provincial Measures for the Administration of Public Security of Civil Unmanned Aircraft," the establishment of this drone-friendly airspace strictly follows the work requirements of the Office of the Central Air Traffic Management Committee. It aims to provide clear and compliant guidance for drone flight activities in Shandong. The Shandong Provincial Department of Transport simultaneously clarified the criteria for defining controlled airspace in the announcement: all areas outside the scope of the drone-friendly airspace are considered controlled airspace for unmanned aircraft. Without approval from the air traffic management authority, no unit or individual is allowed to conduct flight activities in such airspace.

Previously, public security authorities in places like Yantai and Rongcheng within Shandong Province have successively issued notices regarding the registration, filing, and safety management of civil drones. These notices require drone owners to complete real-name registration through the "Integrated Management Platform for Civil Unmanned Aircraft" or the "Public Security Management Platform for Unmanned Aircraft." In early February, the Mudan District Agricultural Machinery Service Center in Heze City held a special policy interpretation training session, focusing on explaining provisions in the "Shandong Provincial Measures for the Administration of Public Security of Civil Unmanned Aircraft" related to airspace application filing, flight activity regulations, and emergency response. A relevant official from the center stated, "Drone operators should establish the concept of 'safety first' and clearly understand the legal boundaries between drone-friendly airspace and controlled airspace."

The announcement of this drone-friendly airspace scope provides visualizable and queryable flight guidelines for drone users in Shandong Province. The National Integrated Supervision and Management Service Platform for Unmanned Aircraft (UOM) has simultaneously launched relevant data. Pilots can access electronic maps of the drone-friendly airspace through the platform's mobile app and complete operations such as flight plan filing. Controlled airspace covers areas above a true altitude of 120 meters and the airspace above key areas such as airport perimeters, military facilities, and important public infrastructure. Violations will face administrative penalties such as fines and equipment confiscation according to the law.

Industry analysis suggests that the coordinated advancement of airspace division and the drone registration system will help reduce safety hazards caused by "illegal flights" and provide a predictable operating environment for industries such as low-altitude logistics, agricultural plant protection, and emergency surveying. The Shandong Provincial Department of Transport stated that, following China's low-altitude management reform deployment, it will continue to optimize the dynamic adjustment mechanism for drone-friendly airspace.
