Wedoany.com Report on Feb 25th, After months of construction, the resurfacing work on the M27 motorway between Junctions 5 and 7 in the UK is nearing completion. National Highways has announced that the project is entering its final stages, with workers removing temporary traffic management and reinstating permanent road markings.

Since the smart motorway upgrade began in January 2019, the M27 has been significantly affected by construction works, and regular commuters are set to see a major improvement. To complete the remaining tasks, overnight closures of the westbound carriageway are required. The schedule includes closures between Junction 7 and Junction 4 on February 23rd, between Junction 9 and Junction 8 on February 25th, and between Junction 8 and Junction 5 on February 26th, all from 9 PM to 6 AM, with signed diversion routes in place. National Highways advises that the timetable may be subject to change due to weather or operational challenges.

Following the completion of the resurfacing work, the project will enter its fifth phase starting February 27th, focusing on testing and recommissioning the system technology. Narrow lanes and width restrictions will be removed, but lane 1 will remain closed in both directions, and the temporary 50 mph speed limit will stay in force. Most technical work will be conducted remotely, with limited on-site activity. The overall resurfacing project is expected to be completed in the spring.

Additionally, the safety barrier on the westbound entry slip road at Junction 7 will be upgraded. Lane 2 of the slip road will be closed during the day, with a full overnight closure from February 26th to March 13th. Temporary markings will be installed on the roundabout to guide traffic, and drivers are advised to allow extra time during peak periods. The M27 motorway resurfacing project is progressing well, with the final phase aimed at enhancing road safety and efficiency.
