The mixer truck raceway is a ring-shaped component welded onto the rear cone of the mixing drum. It supports the mixing drum and allows it to rotate around the central axis through rolling contact with the support rollers. It is mainly used to support the mixing drum and ensure its smooth rotation, making it one of the key components of a concrete mixer truck.
It is typically made of high-strength steel, which offers good weldability and wear resistance. Some raceways are also made of cast materials (such as ZG310-570 or ZG35). To enhance strength and reliability, modern designs increasingly adopt integral forging processes.
The nominal pressure it withstands mainly depends on the capacity of the mixing drum, the weight of the fully loaded material, and factors such as vibration and impact during vehicle operation. Generally, the raceway of small mixers with 3-6 cubic meters capacity can withstand pressures of around 5-10 MPa, while large mixers with 10-16 cubic meters or more can withstand pressures of 15-30 MPa or even higher.
The size is closely related to the specifications of the mixer truck. For small mixer trucks, the diameter of the ring-shaped track is typically around 1-1.5 meters, the diameter of the support rollers is about 10-20 centimeters, and the modulus of the drive gear ring is usually between 3-5. For medium-sized mixer trucks with 8-10 cubic meters capacity, the diameter of the ring-shaped track can reach 1.5-2 meters, the support roller diameter is 20-30 centimeters, and the gear ring modulus is between 5-8. For large mixer trucks, the raceway size is even larger, with the diameter of the ring-shaped track exceeding 2 meters, sometimes even over 3 meters, the support roller diameter reaching 30-50 centimeters, and the drive gear ring modulus between 8-12.
Sealing is primarily achieved through the structural design of the mixing drum, such as using sealing tubes and end caps to prevent concrete leakage. The contact surface between the raceway and the support rollers typically does not require additional sealing but needs regular maintenance to prevent dust and impurities from entering, which could affect its service life.
