The Remote-controlled Variable Diameter Stabilizer offers a versatile range of drill string configurations. Based on borehole trajectory control theory, it adjusts the stabilizer’s position and outer diameter to modify the mechanical characteristics of the bottom hole assembly, achieving objectives such as maintaining inclination, reducing inclination, or increasing inclination. By qualitatively and quantitatively varying the rotary table speed, the stabilizer’s outer diameter can be remotely controlled downhole, allowing changes to the drill string assembly without tripping out. This reduces drilling costs and enhances economic efficiency.
