The 2D Video Disdrometer (SVD-2) is a precipitation particle measurement device that can measure the size, shape, and falling velocity of individual precipitation particles in real time. Precipitation particle types include rain, snow, hail, and others. Through the device software, precipitation rate, precipitation amount, and precipitation particle spectra can be calculated. Data observed by the device are key elements for studying atmospheric precipitation processes and are also important tools for calibrating cloud radars and precipitation radars.
