The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) in Malaysia is a flagship project jointly built by China and Malaysia under the Belt and Road Initiative. With a total length of 665 kilometers, it is an electrified mainline railway for mixed passenger and freight traffic. Upon completion, it will significantly shorten travel time between the east and west coasts of the peninsula and drive economic development along the route.
The 60kg/m rail No. 18 swing-nose crossing single turnout adopted in this project is a core track device tailored to the standards of this mainline railway. The turnout matches the mainstream 60kg/m rail type of the line. The No. 18 large-number turnout, combined with the swing-nose crossing structure, effectively eliminates the harmful space of traditional crossings, greatly reduces wheel-rail impact, and perfectly meets the operational requirements of high speed, high density, and mixed passenger-freight traffic. The turnout features a robust overall structure, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and flexible switching action, while also offering excellent track adaptability and long-term service reliability, capable of withstanding Malaysia's local climate and complex track conditions, thereby reducing later-stage operation and maintenance costs.
