The project involves building a 116.65-kilometer railway line connecting Gujarat and Rajasthan, stretching from Taranga Hill and Ambaji to Abu Road, with an estimated cost of ₹27,980 million. As a crucial component, a total of about 14 kilometers of tunneling, including large, medium, and small tunnels, will be constructed between Ambaji and Mount Abu. During construction, large ventilation systems have been installed inside the tunnels to ensure sufficient oxygen supply. Another key tunnel project is the 1,830-meter-long tunnel near Bhesh Nagtal, which is currently 40% excavated, with construction progressing in 24-hour shift operations.

A total of 15 railway stations will be developed along the Taranga Hill-Abu Road route, with trains designed for a maximum speed of 110 km/h. Once operational, the line will shorten the travel distance for passengers from Gujarat to Mount Abu by approximately 20 kilometers. Railway officials state that the tunnel sections will create a more direct route of about 8.7 kilometers, helping to reduce travel distance and time.

The Taranga Hill-Abu Road railway project aims to enhance rail connectivity between Gujarat and Rajasthan, providing convenience for pilgrims traveling to Ambaji and Taranga Hill, while offering more accessible rail services for visitors to Mount Abu. The project is being overseen and executed by North Western Railway from Jaipur. With continuous progress in the tunneling works, the entire railway project is steadily advancing as planned and is expected to benefit tens of thousands of passengers in Gujarat and Rajasthan upon commissioning.
