This injects strong new momentum into the endeavor of "Sichuan goods leaving Sichuan and reaching everywhere under heaven."
This inaugural train was fully loaded with characteristic local products from Sichuan. Departing from Chengdu Chengxiang Station, it traveled directly by rail to Xiamen Qianchang Station. After transshipping to international liner services at Xiamen Port, the goods will proceed directly via sea freight to Southeast Asia and the Taiwan region of China. This achieves seamless integration of rail transport, port transshipment, and international shipping, establishing a new efficient, stable, and convenient logistics path for the inland western regions to access southern sea routes.
In March 2016, Chengdu International Railway Trains pioneered the "Xiamen-Chengdu-Europe" train service. The Xiamen-Chengdu connection, which continues as part of the China-Europe Railway Express, laid an important foundation for the subsequent construction of the Asia-Chengdu-Europe logistics corridor. In 2024, the two-way rail-sea intermodal channel between Chengdu and Xiamen was fully opened, further connecting the southeastern seaport exit with the inland hinterland.
The launch of this "Maritime Silk Road" dedicated train further improves the multimodal transport system of Chengdu International Railway Port. It realizes a powerful synergy between the inland western open highland and the southeastern coastal international shipping hub, effectively shortening transport cycles, reducing logistics costs, and significantly enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of goods from Sichuan and the western region in reaching global markets. This is a landmark achievement in the co-construction of the "New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor."
