Wedoany.com Report, On March 13 local time, Anthropic announced a major update for its AI chatbot Claude, with the new generation models Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 now officially launched. The most notable change in this update is the adjustment to the pricing strategy: both new models offer the full 1 million token context window at standard prices, with no extra surcharge required for long context usage.
According to Anthropic, Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 have achieved "unified pricing, full window." Specifically, Opus 4.6 is priced at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens; Sonnet 4.6 is priced at $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens. This pricing applies to the entire 1 million token context window. Regardless of the actual context length used by the customer, billing follows the unified rate, and full rate limits apply to all context lengths.
This adjustment means developers no longer need to pay extra fees for long contexts when using Claude to process long documents, complex conversations, or large-scale data analysis. Previously, some AI service providers charged "surcharges" for long context windows or used tiered pricing. With this move, Anthropic has directly incorporated it into the standard pricing system, aiming to attract enterprise customers with a more transparent pricing strategy.
The Claude Opus series is Anthropic's high-end model, focusing on complex reasoning and deep analysis capabilities; the Sonnet series is positioned as a balanced choice between performance and cost, suitable for a wider range of application scenarios. The simultaneous update of the two new models shows that Anthropic is strengthening its competitiveness in the AI chatbot market with clearer product tiers and pricing strategies.
Currently, Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 are officially available on the Claude platform. Users can immediately experience the new service model featuring million-level context windows and unified billing.
