Wedoany.com Report on Mar 16th, Recently, significant progress has been made in the Doumen District, Zhuhai City, livelihood project for road and bridge improvement. The Qiwai Bridge, located on County Road X584, has been officially completed and opened to traffic. The project was successfully completed before the Spring Festival, providing more convenient and safer travel conditions for residents in the surrounding areas.

The original Qiwai Bridge was built in 1995 and has been in use for 30 years. With the increase in service life and growing traffic volume, safety hazards of this road bridge gradually became prominent. It had previously been rated as a Class 4 dangerous bridge. The Doumen District Transportation Bureau included it in the livelihood project for road and bridge improvement, implementing its demolition and reconstruction at the original site.

The newly built Qiwai Bridge has a total length of 85 meters, widened from the original two lanes in both directions to a 19-meter-wide bridge with four lanes in both directions. The bridge deck is paved with asphalt, and sidewalks are installed on both sides, achieving separation of pedestrians and vehicles, which better meets the travel needs of the surrounding communities. Ye Mao, the on-site project manager of Guangzhou Second Municipal Engineering Co., Ltd., which undertook the project, stated that to ensure smooth traffic before the Spring Festival, the project department meticulously organized construction arrangements and worked overtime to meet the schedule, ultimately completing the construction task successfully.

In addition to Qiwai Bridge, the Doumen District Transportation Bureau's livelihood project for road and bridge improvement also covers four other road bridges: the Xiaohaochong Yongkou Village Bridge in Doumen Town, the Sanchong Village Fourth Team Bridge in Lianzhou Town, the S272 Xiaochikan Bridge, and the C539 Denglongsha Sluice Bridge. Currently, the Xiaohaochong Yongkou Village Bridge, S272 Xiaochikan Bridge, and C539 Denglongsha Sluice Bridge have been fully completed, while the superstructure construction of the Sanchong Village Fourth Team Bridge has been finished. The total investment for the five road bridges exceeds 20 million yuan. After the renovation, potential safety hazards of road bridges in the area will be effectively eliminated, transforming the "worrying bridges" bearing the marks of time into "reassuring bridges" for public travel.

A relevant official from the Doumen District Transportation Bureau stated that they will further improve regional external transportation conditions, promote the upgrading of "livelihood transportation," and support regional economic development. The renovation and enhancement of these road bridges will effectively optimize the local road network structure and provide transportation infrastructure support for rural revitalization.
