en.Wedoany.com Report, On March 19, 2026, Hoover's Hatchery, a leading U.S. backyard poultry supplier based in Rudd, Iowa, officially launched its first consumer product—a premium chicken coop constructed from heavy-duty recycled plastic. Named the Hoover's Lean-To Easy Clean Chicken Coop, the product is now available at multiple retailers nationwide, including Murdoch's, Country Store, and approximately 400 Tractor Supply Co. locations.

This product launch marks a strategic expansion for the 82-year-old family-owned business. While the company has long been known for offering over 200 poultry breeds, this is its first foray into hardware and housing products. The coop is designed to address the common "wooden coop cycle" issue associated with traditional wooden coops, where wooden structures are prone to rot, warp, or attract pests within a short period. Unlike wood, which requires regular maintenance, Hoover's recycled plastic panels are non-porous, effectively preventing moisture and waste penetration, thereby enhancing durability and cleanliness.
Key design features of the coop include a quick-clean function, allowing users to complete cleaning in about five minutes using a hand rake and garden hose; a smooth structure that reduces crevices for mite infestation, helping to solve a common problem for keepers; and the use of recycled plastic, which reflects an eco-friendly philosophy and offers a sustainable alternative to wood. Tony Halsted, second-generation owner of Hoover's Hatchery, stated: "With over 80 years of industry experience, we understand the challenges faced by keepers. If maintenance becomes too burdensome, people might give up on raising chickens. We hope this product allows users to spend more time enjoying interactions with their poultry rather than being bogged down by daily chores."
The product launch coincides with the ongoing growth of the U.S. backyard poultry market, which involves approximately 11 million households, accounting for 13% of the population. As more cities, such as Mansfield, Ohio, relax related restrictions, this market is expanding from rural to suburban areas. Founded in 1944, Hoover's Hatchery operates facilities in Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Missouri, offering a variety of chicken, duck, turkey, and game bird breeds.
