en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 25th, The Welsh Government has recently approved £45 million in low-interest loans to five registered social landlords to build a total of 159 new affordable homes across Wales. This funding will support the development of a mix of social rented homes, intermediate rented homes, and shared ownership homes, all designed to meet the Welsh Government's quality standards and energy efficiency requirements. The investment will be delivered in two phases, with £33.3 million allocated this year and the remaining £11.7 million planned for allocation by March 2027.

The housing associations that successfully secured the loans include Cardiff Community Housing Association, Codi Properties Limited, Tai Hedyn Limited, Taff Housing Association, and Valleys to Coast. These affordable housing developments will be located in key areas including Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Torfaen, Bridgend, and Rhondda Cynon Taf. Over the past three years, the Welsh Government's Registered Social Landlord Loan Scheme has played a crucial role in supporting affordable housing, providing £210 million in funding and helping to deliver nearly 900 homes across the country.
Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, Jane Bryant, said: "Everyone in Wales should have a safe, warm, and affordable home. These loans will enable another 159 families to move into homes that are of good quality, built to last, and efficient to heat. By supporting housing associations to deliver projects across Wales, we are making a real difference to people's lives." This financial support is a key part of the Welsh Government's ongoing efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing and address housing needs, helping to alleviate housing pressures for local residents.
