Troya Alimentos has already applied this packaging to 20 different products, including avocados, tomatoes, citrus fruits, mangoes, and other seasonal produce. These products are packed in cardboard trays paired with linerless labels. The primary goal of the new packaging is to reduce waste while adapting to changes in Mexico's regulations on single-use plastics.

Ravenwood's Nobac labeling system was used to handle these trays, reportedly capable of processing up to 50 small trays or 20-25 large trays per minute while maintaining operational simplicity. The labels were printed by Reflex Labels, and the trays were made from TrayCycle material supplied by Paper, Pulp & Film, a fiber-based recyclable material.

The project began its rollout in January 2026 across 30 stores, expanding to 50 stores in the second month with 75,000 packs delivered. The third month plans to deliver 200,000 packs across 150 stores. Distribution covers Mexico City and extends from Tulum to Los Cabos, with future plans to supply Amazon Fresh Mexico City following the pilot.

Previously, at the end of last year, Ravenwood partnered with ProPrint Group to launch a linerless fruit top for Kissabel apples, produced using the Com500 Coater and applied via the Nobac 5000L labeler. The top is made from recyclable material and designed with a focus on shelf display. In 2025, Blossom Hill also adopted a similar linerless packaging for apricots, developed by Paper, Pulp & Film and printed by Superior Litho, aiming to balance environmental friendliness with practicality.
