en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 27th, Solarcycle, a solar recycling company based in Mesa, Arizona, USA, announced that it has signed an exclusive recycling service contract with Prologis, a global logistics real estate and large-scale rooftop solar operator. This agreement aims to enhance material recycling efficiency and gradually reduce Solarcycle's processing costs. The contract covers the recycling of end-of-life solar panels and related equipment from Prologis's assets in the United States, where its properties have installed over 1 gigawatt of solar and battery storage capacity.

Solarcycle noted that this collaboration reflects the industry trend towards managing the entire lifecycle of solar infrastructure. As early distributed solar systems gradually reach end-of-life, owners face pressure to establish reliable and cost-effective recycling solutions, demonstrating responsible material handling. By designating a single recycling service provider, both parties plan to establish a unified process for handling large-scale decommissioned solar assets. This is expected to provide Solarcycle with predictable material volumes, thereby optimizing facility planning and investments in recycling technology.

According to the agreement, recycled materials will be processed within the domestic U.S. supply chain for reuse, supporting waste reduction and the recovery of valuable components from solar equipment. Suvi Sharma, CEO and Co-founder of Solarcycle, stated, "Prologis has set the standard for large-scale distributed solar deployment. This agreement allows us to plan around one of the largest portfolios of rooftop solar assets, which helps us improve operational efficiency, refine technology, and continuously reduce costs to achieve parity with landfill disposal. This is the type of win-win feedback loop needed to meaningfully scale circular infrastructure and support the next generation of facilities."

San Francisco-based Prologis supports Solarcycle through its strategic investment arm, Prologis Ventures, which focuses on early and growth-stage companies in supply chain, real estate technology, construction, energy, and sustainability technologies. Alta Yen, Head of Energy for Prologis in the U.S., said, "We have built one of the largest portfolios of distributed solar assets in the U.S., and responsibly managing it requires a full lifecycle approach from development to end-of-life. This partnership reflects a thoughtful strategy to scale efficiently while implementing consistent, high-quality solutions as our portfolio matures."

Previously, Solarcycle piloted pre-circularity terms in mid-2025, incorporating solar panel and component recycling into initial agreements for four projects with Engie North America in Houston, helping developers plan for end-of-life material recovery early in the project lifecycle. In early 2025, Solarcycle also signed a recycling services agreement with RWE Clean Energy to handle panels from its solar projects.
