en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dutch technology companies Bluealp and Biobtx have announced that Bluealp has been selected as the technology partner for the Biobtx project in Delfzijl. The two parties will collaborate to convert hard-to-recycle mixed plastic waste into circular aromatics.
Bluealp's patented pyrolysis technology will heat and decompose post-consumer mixed plastic waste into a gas phase. Subsequently, Biobtx will convert these vapors into circular aromatics through its catalytic process, which are basic chemicals used in sectors such as automotive and advanced materials. Located in Delfzijl, Bluealp will provide the technology license and be responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of the pyrolysis unit. The plant is expected to process approximately 20,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, with the pyrolysis module to be shipped from Eindhoven to the site starting December 2026.
Biobtx CEO Ton Vries stated: "After extensive evaluation, we selected Bluealp for its continuous process and proven TRL 9 technology." Bluealp CEO Valentijn de Neve said: "The partnership with Biobtx allows us to play a greater role in the circular aromatics market." The project aims to reduce dependence on fossil-based aromatics and promote the development of a circular chemical industry.
