en.Wedoany.com Reported - On May 18, the 15th International Symposium on Mining with Backfill opened in Beijing, China. The Nonferrous Metals Society of China and BGRIMM Technology Group co-hosted the conference, themed "Green Backfill Leading Sustainable Mining Development." Over 200 experts, scholars, corporate executives, and engineering technicians from major mining countries around the world attended the conference to exchange ideas on cutting-edge theories, key technologies, and engineering applications in the field of mine backfill.

Jia Mingxing, Chairman of the Nonferrous Metals Society of China, stated in his address that backfill mining technology can control strata movement and surface subsidence, enabling the large-scale consumption and resource utilization of solid wastes such as tailings and waste rock. He introduced that processes such as open stoping with subsequent backfill, continuous pillarless backfill mining, and large-scale deep mine backfill mining have been applied in Chinese mining projects. The industry is currently tackling engineering challenges related to the long-distance transport of paste and high-concentration backfill, as well as the operation and maintenance of complex deep mine pipelines. Han Long, Chairman of BGRIMM Technology Group, stated that China's backfill technology has undergone a leap from dry backfill to cemented backfill, from low-concentration backfill to paste backfill, and from inefficient backfill to intelligent and efficient backfill. Maureen McGuinness, Chair of the International Committee on Mining with Backfill, noted that the conference is being held in China again after 22 years and expressed gratitude for the conference preparations.

In the keynote session, Wu Aixiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, delivered a special report titled "Paste Backfill: Global Vision and Chinese Wisdom." Maureen McGuinness, Principal Engineer for Canada at Paterson & Cooke, presented a special report titled "Mine Backfill – Another Way to Dispose of Tailings." Yang Xiaocong, Chief Expert at BGRIMM Technology Group, gave a special report titled "Research on Backfill Mechanics and Mining Technology Innovation." This session was co-chaired by Yin Shenghua, Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and Liu Guangsheng, Senior Engineer at BGRIMM Technology Group.

The International Symposium on Mining with Backfill was founded in 1973. This conference featured 10 thematic sub-forums covering topics such as new technologies and equipment for backfill mining, backfill materials, backfill mechanics, slurry transport, and engineering case studies. Concurrent events included short courses and a technical exhibition.
