en.Wedoany.com Reported - G2 Ocean has announced that it will add six new 65,400 deadweight tonnage (DWT) open-hatch gantry crane vessels to its fleet starting in 2029, as part of its fleet renewal program. G2 Ocean is a Norway-based company specializing in open-hatch bulk shipping.
These vessels will be built by New Dayang Shipbuilding Co. in Yangzhou, China. Two of the vessels are owned by Grieg Maritime Group, while the other four are owned by Seaspan and chartered to Gearbulk on a bareboat basis.
This investment is in addition to the 10 newbuild vessels that G2 Ocean will receive between 2026 and 2029, each with a deadweight tonnage of 82,300 tons. The first vessel, "Star Norge," was delivered in January 2026.
According to G2 Ocean, the addition of these six gantry crane open-hatch vessels bridges the gap between its larger 72,000 DWT gantry crane vessels and smaller vessels ranging from 36,000 to 55,000 DWT, thereby enhancing operational flexibility.
"Through investments in newbuilds and the existing fleet, G2 Ocean is strengthening its long-term service capabilities to provide shippers with safe, flexible, reliable, and sustainable cargo solutions," said Arthur English, CEO of G2 Ocean.
