en.Wedoany.com Reported - GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Powerica to deliver 28 units of its 3.8MW-154m onshore wind turbines for the 100MW Botad Wind Farm in Gujarat, India. This order marks the first deployment of this turbine model in the Indian market.

These turbines will be manufactured at GE Vernova's facility in Pune, with delivery scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. Installation work is included in the scope of the agreement. Powerica secured the power purchase agreement for the project through a competitive auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam. The two companies have collaborated on four wind power projects to date.

GE Vernova also revealed that it has received certification from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and has been included in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers of Wind Turbines. The new 3.8MW-154m turbine is specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of the Indian market, with a design life of 30 years, an advanced lightning protection system, digital blade certificates for each blade, and a tubular steel tower, enabling installation using a 650-ton crane. All next-generation GE Vernova turbines manufactured in India will utilize an artificial intelligence-based digital blade certification process.

Pradeep Gupta, Full-time Director of Powerica, expressed delight in collaborating with GE Vernova on their fourth project in Gujarat. He stated that GE Vernova's 3.8MW-154m workhorse turbine is optimized for reliability and scale in the Indian market, and the 100MW project will enhance their independent power producer portfolio while further solidifying their commitment to making a tangible impact in the renewable energy sector. Deepak Maloo, General Manager of GE Vernova's Onshore Wind Business in India, noted that the 3.8MW-154m turbine is designed to deliver efficiency, reliability, and robust performance for Indian wind conditions.

At full capacity, the Pune factory can support the production of up to 1.5GW of turbines annually. India has set a national target of achieving 500GW of non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030, with wind power contributing 100GW. GE Vernova reported that its wind business has exceeded 5GW of installed capacity in India in 2025. The company has been operating in India for over 100 years, with facilities in Pune, Bangalore, and Baroda. Globally, GE Vernova's turbine fleet comprises approximately 59,000 units, with an installed capacity of about 120GW.

In March of this year, the company secured a contract to supply 17 onshore wind turbines for a new project in Fortore, Benevento Province, Italy, with an output exceeding 100MW.
