Wedoany.com Report-Feb 19, The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority has provisionally cleared Boparan’s purchase of ForFarmers’ feed mill sites in Burston and Radstock.
The CMA inquiry group said after its Phase 2 investigation the deal does not raise competition concerns. It is now accepting feedback on its interim report before issuing a final decision by May 13.
ForFarmers and Boparan (through 2Agriculture) both manufacture and supply chicken feed and other types of poultry feed in the UK.
ForFarmers, based in the Netherlands, is a manufacturer and supplier of animal feed. 2Agriculture, the Boparan subsidiary, is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of poultry feed. It supplies feed to Hook 2 Sisters, a company affiliated with Boparan, as well as farmers on the open market.
Several years ago, the companies had discussed combining their feed operations, which includes 19 mills, in a joint venture but the plan was dropped in 2023 following a CMA investigation.
ForFarmers has been in transaction mode in the past several years, merging with companies in Germany and Poland while selling its business in Belgium.
