Wedoany.com Report-Mar 1, Black Gold Exploration Corp. (BGX) has started drilling the Fritz 2-30 oil and gas well in Clay County, Indiana. The company recently secured a 10% working interest in this well, along with an option to join future development wells within a 210-acre area, through an agreement with Adler Energy, the project’s operator. Located in the Terra Haute Reef Bank of Southwestern Indiana, this site lies near the Fritz 1 well, drilled 17 years ago. That earlier well identified oil and gas layers but did not produce due to factors like low oil prices at the time.

The Illinois Basin, where the Fritz 2-30 is situated, has a track record of yielding 10 to 12 million barrels of oil each year. Adler Energy conducted a detailed eight-square-mile 3D seismic survey of the region, revealing multiple potential oil-bearing zones, both shallow and deep. The Fritz 2-30 well targets at least ten such layers, including the Devonian, Trenton, St. Peter Sand, Black River, and Knox formations. Seismic data highlights deep fractures that serve as pathways for oil migration into porous zones, each showing over 100 feet of closure, suggesting substantial reservoir potential.

Francisco Gulisano, CEO of BGX, stated: “We believe that the drilling in this region is the company’s most significant short-term milestone to date and we are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in the Well, which not only gives us the potential for early cash flow but is also aligned with our longer-term plan to expand our footprint in the Illinois Basin.” This reflects BGX’s strategy to leverage the project for both immediate returns and future growth in the area.

John Miller, President of Adler Energy, added: “Based on the 3D seismic and other data we have compiled, our experienced technical team could not be more excited about the Fritz 2-30 well and we are very happy to be working with BGX in discovering what we believe is tremendous untapped value.” The collaboration aims to capitalize on the region’s geological promise, building on the historical productivity of the Illinois Basin.

Gulisano further noted: “Given the history of the Fritz wells, we are looking to take advantage of overlooked opportunities to hopefully not only jump start our cash flows but also unlock value in one of the oldest and most productive oil basins in North American history.” The initiative seeks to tap into previously unexploited resources, enhancing BGX’s position in a well-established oil-producing region. Drilling progress will determine the project’s impact on the company’s financial outlook and the broader basin’s output.
