Wedoany.com Report-Mar 2, European Energy has activated its initial photovoltaic project in Australia, the 58MW Mokoan solar park, situated in Victoria State. Construction commenced in the first half of 2024, and the facility is now operational. The solar park is projected to produce around 113GWh of electricity each year, sufficient to supply power to over 18,000 Australian households while reducing CO2 emissions by more than 85,000 tonnes annually.

Catriona McLeod, vice president and head of Australia at European Energy, stated: "We are thrilled to have completed our first project in Australia just two years after establishing our office in the country. This is a tremendous achievement for our entire Australian team, and I am proud that we have demonstrated our ability to execute projects like this efficiently and effectively."

Australia is experiencing a significant shift in its energy landscape, with the government aiming to add 33,000GWh of renewable electricity between 2020 and 2030. This target reflects a move away from the nation’s traditional dependence on fossil fuels toward cleaner energy sources. The Mokoan solar park contributes to this broader transition by delivering a reliable supply of renewable power.

European Energy has also prioritized sustainable development in its operations. In 2024, the company entered into an agreement with the First Nations Bailai Gurang Gooreng Gooreng Taribelang Bunda People Development Corporation. This partnership seeks to ensure the responsible advancement of renewable energy projects on Indigenous land, aligning with the company’s commitment to environmental and community considerations.

The completion of the Mokoan solar park marks a milestone for European Energy’s expansion in Australia. The project showcases the company’s capacity to deliver renewable energy solutions swiftly and supports the country’s goals for a more sustainable energy future.
