en.Wedoany.com Reported - On June 9, the National Artificial Intelligence Application Pilot Base (Healthcare)·Beijing Interim Results Release Conference was held in Beijing. The conference, guided by the National Health Commission, hosted by the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, undertaken by China Unicom, and co-organized by the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Management Committee, showcased the interim achievements made in precision diagnosis and treatment and biomedical manufacturing since the base's approval. Over 500 representatives attended the conference, including leaders from the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Health Commission, the National Data Administration, relevant departments of the Beijing Municipal Government, leaders from health commissions of 14 provinces across the country, as well as representatives from medical institutions, research institutes, industry enterprises, and social organizations. Miao Shouye, Vice President of China Unicom, attended the conference and delivered a speech.
China Unicom Fully Undertakes Base Construction, Building Full-Stack Common Support Capabilities for Medical AI
In May 2025, under the leadership of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and with the support of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, China Unicom established Beijing Medical Health Large Model Co., Ltd., undertaking the construction of the National AI Application Pilot Base in Healthcare. Leveraging its independently developed Unicom Cloud and Xingluo Computing Power Scheduling Platform, Wanxiang Industry Trusted Data Space, Yuanjing MaaS and Wanwu Intelligent Agent Development Platform, and Mogong Security Operations Platform, China Unicom has built full-stack common support capabilities for medical AI, providing a solid foundation for the rapid transformation and large-scale implementation of achievements.
As the base constructor, China Unicom comprehensively showcased its technological expertise and core capabilities in digital healthcare at the conference. Miao Shouye stated that China Unicom has deeply cultivated the smart healthcare field, accumulating full-stack medical digital service capabilities. It has continuously engaged in strategic cooperation with the National Health Commission, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration. It was designated by the National Data Administration as the lead unit for constructing high-quality datasets in the healthcare industry, and was selected by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council for outstanding construction achievements of high-quality datasets in the healthcare industry among central enterprises and as a first batch of high-value strategic scenarios for AI in central enterprises. Currently, China Unicom has created nearly 100 major livelihood demonstration projects in the medical field, serving over 5,000 medical institutions at all levels.
Major Release of Hundred-Million-Yuan Support Plan for High-Quality Datasets, Activating the Value of Medical Data Elements
During the conference, China Unicom released a major hundred-million-yuan support plan for high-quality datasets. The plan establishes a special support fund exceeding 100 million yuan for high-quality datasets in the medical field, targeting medical institutions and ecosystem partners. It aims to create a batch of industry high-quality datasets, facilitate a batch of billion-yuan-level medical data transactions, and incubate a batch of high-quality medical AI applications and ecosystems. Currently, the base has created over 150 TB of high-quality industry datasets covering more than 10 specialized disease areas, achieved data transaction scales exceeding 10 million yuan, and served over 30 pharmaceutical R&D pipelines, fully demonstrating China Unicom's leading role in valorizing medical data elements.
Deploying Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Specialized Disease Intelligent Agents, Making High-Quality Medical Resources from Top Tertiary Hospitals Universally Accessible
Leveraging China Unicom's core technology platform, the base has partnered with multiple leading tertiary hospitals and ecosystem partners to create expert-level specialized disease intelligent agents in fields such as ophthalmology, pediatrics, neurology, cardiovascular, and nephrology, achieving a shift from "single-point breakthroughs" to "systematic empowerment."
During the conference, several intelligent agents were released, including: a screening and diagnosis agent for blinding eye diseases and major chronic diseases in collaboration with Beijing Tongren Hospital; an ultrasound diagnosis and decision-making agent for cardiovascular diseases with Beijing Anzhen Hospital; a specialized disease intelligent agent matrix with Peking Union Medical College Hospital; a co-morbidity auxiliary decision-making agent for kidney diseases co-created with Peking University First Hospital; an AI pediatrician with Beijing Children's Hospital; and a CT image-assisted diagnosis agent for whole-brain diseases co-developed with Beijing Tiantan Hospital. Leveraging China Unicom's computing power, data, platform, and security capabilities, these expert-level intelligent agents are moving from tertiary hospitals to grassroots institutions, benefiting the general public and effectively reducing the burden on doctors, fully reflecting China Unicom's responsibility as a central enterprise in "promoting balanced medical resources through digital intelligence."
AI Empowering Drug R&D and Manufacturing, Boosting Quality and Efficiency Across the Entire Chain
In the biomedical manufacturing field, China Unicom is collaborating with ecosystem partners to promote quality and efficiency improvements across the entire pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing chain. The Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence released a unified drug R&D model, OpenComplex Plus, covering four key pharmaceutical steps: pocket identification, reverse screening, structure prediction, and affinity prediction, with comprehensive performance reaching internationally leading levels. The Beijing Future AI and Digital Health Research Institute released its first action plan, providing professional intellectual support to the base in areas such as policy research, achievement transformation, and talent cultivation.
Looking ahead, China Unicom will leverage the base, based in Beijing and serving the whole country, to join hands with more leading medical institutions, top-tier research institutes, and high-quality industry partners. It will continue to complete all base construction tasks to high standards, accelerate the transition of innovative achievements from the laboratory to clinical practice, and inject strong AI momentum into accelerating the construction of a Healthy China.
