Wedoany.com Report-Mar 7, A Chinese trade organisation in Europe is rejecting allegations that the use of Chinese-made turbines in the Luxcara's 270MW Waterkant offshore wind project could be a threat to Germany's political system.

The China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) wrote in a 5 March letter: "Allegations that Cinese wind firms could exploit turbine sensors for data collection are technically implausible and lack factual basis."

The organisation added that in the Waterkant project all control systems, data storage, and remote management remain with German and European project developers.

Luxcara selected Chinese manufacturer Mingyang to supply 16 turbines to the project last summer.

"While national security is a valid consideration, its overuse risks distorting markets and undermining international trade," the CCCEU wrote.

The letter is in response to reporting in Politico this week, citing concerns from the German defence minister that Beijing could purposefully delay projects, harvest data, and remotely shut down turbines in German wind farms.

The CCCEU added: "Excluding Chinese firms base on unverified security concerns would constitute trade protectionism, contradicting the EU's commitment to free markets.

"Chinese wind power companies have been contributing to global green development with their efficient, innovative and reliable products, and have strictly complied with local regulations and safety requirements."

The letter went on to call on German authorities to "resist artificial barriers that hinder clean energy cooperation", and said that Chinese companies remain open to dialogue with German and EU stakeholders.
