en.Wedoany.com Reported - Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business Unit has signed a manufacturing cooperation agreement with US-based power management solutions company Claros to mass-produce next-generation power semiconductors for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.

Claros announced on the 16th (local time) that it has agreed to leverage Samsung's foundry process technology to establish a mass production system for its core product, the "Integrated Voltage Regulator (IVR)." This collaboration aims to address the power consumption challenges faced by global hyperscale data center operators.

The IVR developed by Claros is a high-performance power semiconductor that precisely controls data center power at the processor front end. In traditional 800V DC (direct current) data center environments, power transmission losses are significant. By applying this technology, power can be regulated directly a few millimeters from the processor unit, reducing energy loss by up to 30%.

Samsung Electronics will provide its advanced 14nm (nanometer) FinFET (Fin Field-Effect Transistor) process line located in the United States for the production of Claros' next-generation IVR products. Margaret Han, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' US Foundry Business Unit, stated that processor-level power supply is one of the core challenges facing current AI infrastructure. She expressed delight in realizing Claros' innovative IVR solution through Samsung's FinFET technology and looks forward to the technology expanding beyond data centers into industrial and automotive semiconductor fields in the future.

Claros, which recently completed a $30 million (approximately 453 billion KRW) seed funding round, plans to leverage this first manufacturing contract with Samsung Electronics to accelerate the resolution of power infrastructure bottlenecks in the AI accelerator market. Daniel Cultran, co-founder and CEO of Claros, emphasized that the biggest obstacle in discussions with data center operators was the ability to achieve large-scale supply. Through this contract with Samsung Foundry, supply uncertainty has been eliminated, and a reliable, specific production timeline has been established for customers.
