en.Wedoany.com Reported - U.S. data center company Hyperscale Data plans to deploy humanoid robots at its Michigan facility to support the development of embodied artificial intelligence applications.

The company announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Omnipresent Robotics, has initiated production of the first 30 OPR-R2 humanoid robots through a partner. These robots will be allocated to Omnipresent Robotics' model training lab, where they will work alongside AI infrastructure personnel and data center staff to generate real-world training data.

Hyperscale Data and its subsidiary Omnipresent Robotics are collaborating with Chinese robotics company Agibot PTE Ltd on this project. The company expects to begin receiving components and assembling them in the third quarter of 2026, with plans to deploy them at its Michigan data center campus. Overall, the company will procure 143 such robots from Agibot for a total of $13.4 million. Omnipresent Robotics has been authorized to resell these robots under its own brand.

These robots will operate within the company's planned 100,000-square-foot (9,290 square meters) robotics research, testing, and innovation center, supporting the development of embodied AI applications, autonomous workflows, and advanced robotic systems. Hyperscale Data stated that the robots will assist with data collection, model training, simulation validation, facility operations, and the development of next-generation embodied AI systems. The company believes that integrating humanoid robots with high-performance AI computing infrastructure will create a unique environment for developing and evaluating next-generation AI systems capable of operating in real-world settings.

Hyperscale Data owns a data center at 415 East Grand Prairie Avenue in Dowagiac, Michigan, covering 34.5 acres with a power capacity of 30MW, acquired in May 2022. The building, originally constructed in 1972 as manufacturing space, has a floor area of 617,000 square feet (57,320 square meters). The company is repositioning part of the site from Bitcoin mining to high-performance computing and colocation, and now to robotics labs. Approximately 100,000 square feet of the site has been allocated to robotic operations, teleoperation pods, and embodied AI training activities. The company plans to expand the site to 340MW, including 40MW of behind-the-meter natural gas capacity.

Milton 'Todd' Ault III, Executive Chairman of Hyperscale Data, stated that physical AI is a crucial aspect of the future of artificial intelligence. He noted that while current leading AI models excel in reasoning, language, and content generation, future AI systems must be able to understand and interact with the physical world. The company's development at the Michigan campus aims to bridge this gap by creating a large-scale environment where humanoid robots and advanced AI models can continuously learn, train, and improve.

Hyperscale Data, formerly known as Ault Alliance, was a diversified holding company investing in oil exploration, crane services, defense/aerospace, industrial, automotive, medical/biopharmaceutical, consumer electronics, hospitality operations, and textiles. Last year, the company announced a full pivot to AI and data centers, completed its name change, and plans to divest all non-data center assets. The company is currently majority-owned by Ault & Company, Inc. Agibot, founded in 2023 and headquartered in Shanghai, develops humanoid robots, robotic dogs, and wheeled machines, claiming to have mass-produced 1,000 general-purpose embodied robots.
