en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) has launched a project called "ICT Residency – Artificial Intelligence Trajectory," with a planned investment of 129 million reais, aiming to train 5,800 professionals in the field of artificial intelligence by 2028.

The project is coordinated by the Eldorado Institute (Instituto Eldorado) and carried out in collaboration with universities in Manaus, Brasília, Campinas, and Porto Alegre. The training program covers the entire country, aiming to train 1,800 AI developers and 4,000 AI tool users. This project is part of a series of MCTI initiatives to cultivate AI talent and aligns with the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA), intending to strengthen Brazil's capacity to develop and utilize strategic technologies.

Brazil's Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, stated during the project launch in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, that the development of artificial intelligence depends not only on infrastructure and research but also on the ability to cultivate professionals capable of working in the AI field. This field is becoming increasingly strategic for the economy and national security. The minister emphasized that without highly qualified talent, there is no technological sovereignty, and investing in talent development is because the country's greatest wealth lies in its ability to generate knowledge and transform it into innovation. She pointed out that the "AI Trajectory" will create opportunities for thousands of Brazilians and enhance the nation's capacity to develop autonomous AI solutions.

Luciana Santos also mentioned that the plan is part of the federal government's broader strategy to help Brazil address the challenges of digital transformation. She believes that artificial intelligence is transforming industry, services, healthcare, education, and scientific research, and Brazil wants to be a protagonist in this process. To achieve this, it is necessary to cultivate professional talent, support research, and create conditions for innovation to occur, thereby generating development and quality job opportunities.

Between March and May 2026, MCTI approved three large-scale ICT residency projects with a primary focus on artificial intelligence, with a total investment of approximately 354 million reais. These projects are expected to directly benefit over 47,000 people, including students, technical professionals, teachers, and AI tool users.
