en.Wedoany.com Reported - SmartSens has launched the SC522PC, a 5-megapixel CMOS image sensor for AI PCs and tablets. Based on the SmartClarity®-XL technology platform, this product utilizes a 65nm Stacked BSI process and integrates patented technologies such as PixGain HDR® and SFCPixel®. It features an ultra-compact module size, high dynamic range, high frame rate, and low power consumption.

Currently, laptops and tablets are evolving towards extreme thinness and lightness, full-screen integration, and AI-powered smart interaction, with AI PCs gradually becoming the market mainstream. Functions such as video conferencing, facial recognition, human presence detection, and always-on standby impose higher requirements on PC image sensors regarding miniaturization, low power consumption, and all-scenario imaging capabilities.

The SC522PC supports the industry-standard 16:10 resolution output ratio, making it compatible with the narrow-bezel screen designs of AI PCs, tablets, and other terminal devices. It delivers images without cropping or black bars in scenarios like video conferencing. Its module Y-dimension is less than 4mm, which helps reduce the reserved bezel space in the device while maintaining imaging performance, aligning with the trend towards thinner and lighter terminals.

The SC522PC incorporates PixGain HDR® and ColGain HDR® technologies, achieving a maximum dynamic range of 73.7dB. This enables it to capture images without motion artifacts in environments with strong light or backlighting. The sensor supports a high frame rate output of 60fps, which can alleviate issues like frame stuttering and motion blur, providing smooth image capture. The SC522PC supports Always-On Video (AOV) functionality, allowing intelligent switching between 1fps and 60fps for extended standby time, meeting the requirements for human presence detection and Always-On functions. Through SFCPixel® technology and an ultra-low-noise peripheral readout circuit, this sensor effectively suppresses noise while maintaining high sensitivity, enhancing imaging quality in low-light environments.

SmartSens has launched multiple series of CMOS image sensor products for PC applications, including the SC020MPC, SC038MPC, SC200PC, SC521PC, and SC522PC, covering the needs for intelligent sensing and high-definition imaging.

The SC522PC is currently accepting samples and is expected to enter mass production in the third quarter of 2026.
