en.Wedoany.com Reported - DayOne Data Centers, a Singapore-based digital infrastructure platform, has announced the signing of renewable energy supply agreements with TNB Renewables (TRe) and TNB Power Generation (GenCo), the renewable energy and power generation divisions of Malaysia's national energy company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

These agreements were formally signed under the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) framework introduced by the Energy Commission of Malaysia. This framework allows companies to directly procure green electricity from renewable energy developers. The agreements cover approximately 1.5GWp of solar capacity and 2.2GWh of battery energy storage for ground-mounted solar and hybrid hydro-floating solar (HHFS) projects. This move marks a significant step in decarbonizing DayOne's data center operations in Malaysia, while supporting the country's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
The agreements involve bilateral energy supply contracts (BESC) signed with TRe and GenCo, along with the transfer of associated renewable energy certificates (RECs). This supports DayOne's goal of achieving 100% renewable energy across its platform by 2030 or earlier, subject to market conditions, and reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% from a 2025 baseline. This collaboration builds on the CRESS agreement DayOne signed with TNB in June 2025, which enabled DayOne to secure 500 megawatts of renewable energy over 21 years. Through this partnership, DayOne has now secured over 1GW of total renewable energy in Malaysia.
This partnership directly supports Malaysia's NETR and the nation's goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the earliest, by which time renewable energy is expected to account for 70% of total installed capacity. It also strengthens Malaysia's position as a regional hub for data center, cloud, and artificial intelligence infrastructure, where access to reliable renewable energy is becoming a key requirement for global hyperscalers.
These agreements make DayOne one of the first companies under the CRESS framework to transition from renewable energy intent to full contract execution, further reinforcing Malaysia's role as a strategic digital infrastructure hub underpinned by a clean energy pathway.
Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne, stated that today's signing marks a significant milestone in the company's responsible expansion of digital infrastructure. As demand for AI and cloud infrastructure accelerates, securing long-term access to renewable energy is critical. The company is proud to be TNB's largest customer and to contribute to the stability of the national grid. This partnership enhances DayOne's ability to grow in Malaysia with greater energy resilience while supporting its customers' sustainability visions.
