en.Wedoany.com Reported - KazMunayGas (KMG) has launched an AI-based digital twin project for oil fields, with the pilot selected at the Shygys Moldabek field of EmbaMunayGas (EMG). A digital twin is an AI-driven virtual model of an oil field that analyzes production processes, predicts extraction indicators, and assists in optimal decision-making. Currently, with the participation of KMG Digital, KMG Engineering, and a technology partner, the project is conducting research on the operational models, business processes, and IT infrastructure of the upstream segment. The first phase covers the KMG corporate center, KMG Engineering, and EMG; in July of this year, similar work will proceed at Uzenmunaygas and KazTurMunai. The overall plan is to deploy digital twins across 12 major oil fields under the KMG Group, based on the ABAI information system. The implementation is expected to achieve goals such as improving oil field development efficiency, reducing production costs, enhancing oil recovery rates, and perfecting the industrial safety system. This project is part of the Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence Year announced by the Head of State of Kazakhstan and is also part of KMG's systematic work to introduce advanced technologies into production.
