en.Wedoany.com Reported - Stellantis, Uber, and artificial intelligence software company Wayve have announced a partnership to jointly develop and deploy Level 4 autonomous robotaxis worldwide. The three companies will collaborate on vehicle integration, testing, validation, and deployment, with the goal of gradually introducing autonomous mobility services to cities in Europe, North America, and other regions.

The project builds on existing collaborations, including a L2++ technology agreement between Stellantis and Wayve, as well as Wayve's partnership with Uber to deploy autonomous taxis in London, Tokyo, and 10 other cities starting this year. Under the agreement, Stellantis will be responsible for designing and manufacturing vehicles at scale based on its advanced L4-Ready platform, which integrates a sensor suite and is specifically engineered for the operational requirements, safety, and redundancy needed for high-utilization driverless operations.

Wayve will provide AI driving software that enables vehicles to fully and autonomously understand and navigate complex real-world environments. The technology, based on Wayve's end-to-end AI driving approach, can operate across different regions and driving conditions without relying on city-by-city mapping or re-engineering. Uber will deploy the autonomous vehicles into its global mobility network, connecting passengers with autonomous trips through the Uber app and helping scale operations in various markets.

Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer at Stellantis, stated that the company will combine its L4-Ready platform, designed specifically for safe and efficient driverless operations, with Wayve's adaptive AI and Uber's global network to accelerate the deployment of autonomous vehicles that meet real customer needs and enable seamless daily mass mobility. This non-binding memorandum of understanding lays the foundation for future agreements involving technology development, licensing, production, and vehicle procurement, with each company retaining flexibility for additional collaborations in the autonomous driving field.
