en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tartisan Nickel (CSE:TN) has added four new claims to its Turtle Pond nickel-copper project in northwestern Ontario, Canada, increasing the total number of blocks in the project to 170, covering an area of 3,564 hectares.
The new claims are located approximately 40 kilometers south of Dryden and about 70 kilometers east of the company's flagship Kenbridge nickel-copper deposit. The expanded project area contains three historical nickel-copper mineralization occurrences: Glatz, Double E, and Night Danger.
The Glatz occurrence historically featured 12 trenches along a 700-meter strike, all of which revealed nickel-copper sulfide mineralization. The mineralized zone reaches widths of up to 40 meters, with potential for extension along strike and at depth. Historical grab samples returned nickel grades of up to 1.95%.
Canadian Arrow Mines conducted surface sampling at the site in 2007, with samples from Glatz Trench 2 yielding 1.28% nickel and 0.26% copper, and samples from Trench 3 yielding 0.99% nickel and 0.18% copper. Drilling during the same period intersected 5.9 meters grading 0.34% nickel, 0.16% copper, and 0.02% cobalt.
The Double E occurrence yielded a significant nickel-copper-platinum group element discovery in 2008. Drill hole EE-09-02 intersected 4.2 meters at a depth of 25.5 meters, grading 0.81% nickel, 0.52% copper, 0.20 g/t platinum, 0.16 g/t palladium, and 0.20 g/t gold.
At the Night Danger occurrence, drill hole ND-10-1 intersected 0.7 meters at a depth of 57.5 meters, grading 4.53% nickel. Another drill hole intersected 9 meters of sulfide veinlets and disseminated mineralization, grading 0.57% nickel and 0.45% copper.
CEO Mark Appleby stated that the nickel and copper grades at these three occurrences are similar to the near-surface mineralization at Kenbridge. He noted that acquiring these claims will complement the company's broader goal of developing the Kenbridge project into a regional project. The company has formulated an exploration plan for 2026, including geological mapping and surface sampling, with potential diamond drilling in 2026-2027.
Tartisan Nickel currently owns the Kenbridge nickel-copper project near Sioux Narrows in northwestern Ontario, as well as the Sill Lake silver project near Sault Ste. Marie.
