en.Wedoany.com Reported - Microwave Techniques has signed a final licensing agreement with Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) for the ARC Sentry arc detector technology. BSA operates Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). As a wholly owned subsidiary of The Elmet Group Co., Microwave Techniques is a manufacturer of high-power microwave components and RF solutions.

Under the agreement, Microwave Techniques has obtained a non-exclusive copyright license to manufacture and commercialize the ARC Sentry system. This arc detection platform is specifically designed to protect critical RF infrastructure, aiming to prevent damage caused by arcs in high-power environments. Originally developed for the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II), the system can detect optical evidence of arc propagation and issue an interlock signal to halt propagation before hardware damage occurs.

Microwave Techniques obtains license for ARC Sentry arc detection technology to protect critical RF infrastructure

Henry Fries, Vice President of Engineering at Microwave Techniques, stated that integrating ARC Sentry technology into the product line enhances the company's ability to provide comprehensive RF protection and monitoring solutions for demanding industrial, scientific, and medical applications. The agreement also enables the company to leverage innovative R&D results to deliver next-generation high-speed protection equipment to global customers.

Technical features of the ARC Sentry platform include: a scalable architecture supporting up to 24 channels for monitoring waveguide and coaxial systems; SMA fiber optic pickups suitable for small-sized waveguides and confined spaces; fast detection optimized to identify arcs and trigger protective shutdown in less than 3 microseconds; reduced false alarms achieved through high-speed sampling rates and continuous event determination; and an integrated interface including a graphical user interface (GUI) and control software for real-time system configuration and signal evaluation.

Under the terms of the agreement, Microwave Techniques will be responsible for the engineering, manufacturing, and global sales of the licensed products.
