Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control, and Process Automation will be merged into a new "Automation" division, a move aimed at helping industrial customers build more flexible, more productive, and more resilient production systems.

The Managing Board of Siemens AG has appointed Rainer Brehm as President of the new division. Brehm will assume his new role on October 1, 2026, reporting to Cedrik Neike, member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digital Industries.

Cedrik Neike stated that the future of industry lies in the combination of automation, software, and artificial intelligence, with the goal of achieving higher innovation speed, greater scalability, and precise customer solutions—precisely the purpose of this divisional integration. He also noted that Rainer Brehm understands the technology, the market, and customers, and is passionate about automation, expressing confidence that he will successfully lead the team in growing this business.

Regarding his future scope of responsibilities, Rainer Brehm said that artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming industry, making a strong automation partner even more important. He looks forward to working with the global team to expand Siemens' technological leadership in automation and jointly drive industry toward an AI-based stage of autonomous production, thereby delivering greater flexibility, productivity, and competitiveness to customers.

Brehm previously served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the automation business and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Digital Industries, where he spearheaded the strategic development of Siemens' automation portfolio, covering areas such as software-defined automation and industrial artificial intelligence. Prior to his current role, he served as CEO of the Factory Automation business unit.
