PPG Breaks Ground on Automotive Coatings Expansion Project in Ohio, USA, with Investment Exceeding $280 Million
en.Wedoany.com Reported - PPG has broken ground on a new advanced manufacturing facility at its existing site in Delaware, Ohio. This facility is part of an expansion plan with a total investment of more than $280 million.

The new facility, covering 100,000 square feet, will be used for the production of waterborne basecoats and primers, clearcoat manufacturing, and will be equipped with real-time quality assessment and automated material handling systems. PPG stated that the new processes are designed to reduce waste while improving water and energy efficiency. The expanded facility is expected to begin operations in 2028.
The project is expected to create approximately 100 full-time positions; PPG's Delaware plant currently employs about 450 people. PPG stated that this investment will enhance its ability to serve automotive OEMs and component suppliers in North America. The company first announced the Delaware expansion in March, and this groundbreaking marks the project's transition into the construction phase.
The expansion will also introduce advanced automation and digital manufacturing capabilities, as well as more energy-efficient production processes. Ryan Augsburger, President of the Ohio Manufacturers' Association, commented on this, saying that manufacturing growth is reflected on the ground through new capacity, new technologies on the shop floor, and careers launched for 100 Ohioans; PPG's continued investment in the city of Delaware also confirms the strength of the state's manufacturing sector.
