en.Wedoany.com Reported - HSBC has entered into a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to deploy the Gemini model and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform across its operations, with the goal of delivering over 200 AI application scenarios within two years. This collaboration may demonstrate how large language models can be integrated at scale into regulated industries.

HSBC currently runs more than 600 applications on Google Cloud infrastructure, and the new agreement extends this relationship to generative AI and agentic AI systems. Engineering teams from Google Cloud and Google DeepMind will work directly with HSBC to build AI tools in three initial areas. As part of the partnership, Google engineers will be embedded within HSBC's operations, rather than delivering AI as a standalone software product, aiming to achieve tighter integration of the Gemini platform with existing banking systems.

Wealth management is the first deployment area. HSBC plans to use AI-driven insights to guide client relationship managers, enabling them to offer advice to customers. The system is designed to provide real-time, personalized recommendations while maintaining security protocols at every stage of customer interaction.

Financial crime and risk management is the second area. HSBC will combine generative AI with agentic AI to build detection architectures for earlier risk identification. According to HSBC, the system will monitor nearly one billion transactions processed monthly by the bank for signs of financial crime, potentially cutting intervention time in half when risks are detected.

The third area focuses on AI assistants for frontline employees, aimed at reducing administrative tasks and meeting preparation time. The bank says tasks that previously took hours can now be completed in minutes. The assistant will also encode regulatory procedures into AI structures that employees can query during decision-making processes.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, stated that the partnership is a blueprint for the future of the financial services industry, creating smarter, more resilient banks by accelerating AI applications based on Gemini, the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, forward-deployed engineers, and Google DeepMind's research expertise. HSBC Group CEO Georges Elhedery noted that the deployment model places human oversight at the core of operations, with human judgment, decision-making, and accountability remaining key. He added that AI is becoming one of the defining technologies of this era, capable of creating personalized experiences for every customer, delivered in real time at scale, while keeping human oversight at the center. The collaboration with Google Cloud helps equip employees with the tools needed for the future, supporting the construction of a simpler, more agile, faster, and more human-centric HSBC.
