en.Wedoany.com Reported - Paolo Andrés Alzamora, Executive President of the Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Peru (Ingemmet), recently received a delegation led by Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup, Malaysia's Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, for talks on mining cooperation and investment opportunities.

The Malaysian delegation included Ahmad Fadzil bin Ramli, Special Secretary to the Minister; Datuk Zamri bin Ramli, Director General of the Minerals and Geoscience Department Malaysia (JMG); and representatives from mining enterprises and organizations. Ingemmet was represented by senior management and institutional experts.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged information on Peru's national mining profile, as well as Ingemmet's technical capabilities in geological research, mineral resources, and geoscience information management. Ingemmet experts presented the latest applications of artificial intelligence in mineral resource exploration and prospecting. These tools can analyze vast amounts of geoscience data and identify areas with mineral potential, helping to optimize research processes and geological knowledge generation.
The discussions also covered opportunities offered by Peru in the development of strategic mineral projects for energy transition and new technologies. The Malaysian delegation expressed interest in identifying potential industrial cooperation in mineral trade and supply chains, particularly concerning tin, and exploring collaboration mechanisms for raw material supply in the smelting industry. Investment potential in critical minerals and rare earth elements was also a topic of discussion, given the growing demand for these resources due to their key roles in batteries, electric vehicles, electronic devices, and clean energy technologies.
Additionally, both sides shared experiences in mineral processing technologies and value-added activity development, as well as best practices in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, aiming to promote sustainable and responsible mining development. Both parties agreed that strengthening international cooperation ties and building strategic networks among public institutions, enterprises, and global mining players are of great significance for creating new economic, scientific, and technological development opportunities for both countries.
