The company announced that it has commenced commercial electricity sales after completing the formal acceptance procedures for the solar facility built within the plant. The solar facility officially entered commercial operation on June 19, 2026, following approval by Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
ZOREN, a subsidiary of Zorlu Energy, implemented this project to increase resource diversity. Through the hybrid production model, the company supplements the existing geothermal infrastructure with solar energy to strengthen its renewable energy portfolio. Similar solar integrations were previously carried out at the Kizildere 1 and Kizildere 3 geothermal plants.
