en.Wedoany.com Reported - Adtran and euNetworks have announced Quantum Shield, a quantum-safe private connectivity service. Built on Adtran's optical transport technology and integrated into euNetworks' pan-European network, the service is designed to support secure and scalable data center connectivity.

The service targets organizations with requirements for security, performance, and customer-controlled encryption. It combines high-capacity infrastructure with real-time fiber monitoring to improve optical layer visibility and support data traffic protection. This integration aims to provide encryption and continuous monitoring for data transmitted across Europe.
The launch comes as European organizations navigate evolving cybersecurity regulations and EU post-quantum security guidelines. EU directives, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2), impose higher requirements for encryption and infrastructure traffic protection.
Quantum Shield is offered as an additional security layer within the euNetworks Private Connect MOFN solution, enabling quantum-safe connectivity over private fiber networks. The service integrates quantum-resistant encryption at Layer 1, automatically encrypting all traffic.
The infrastructure is based on Adtran's FSP 3000 optical transport platform and S-Flex technology, supporting high-capacity encrypted data center interconnect (DCI) services. It uses post-quantum cryptography compliant with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards to protect traffic over the optical infrastructure. The cryptography is designed to meet current and emerging standards and supports a crypto-agile approach.
Adtran's ALM solution provides continuous monitoring of the optical network, including detection of fiber tapping events. Combined with encryption capabilities, these technologies aim to support low-latency, high-throughput optical connectivity while giving customers greater visibility and control over their data.
As demand for secure and resilient data center connectivity continues to grow, the service is designed to meet the needs of organizations seeking quantum-safe encryption and enhanced monitoring for private optical networks.
