en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korea's LG Electronics will undergo an organizational restructuring starting July 1, establishing a new "Robot Business Center" directly under the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This decision, made four months before the regular year-end reorganization, reflects the company's strategic intent to fully develop its robotics business based on physical Artificial Intelligence (AI).

LG Electronics CEO-Direct 'Robot Business Center' Established, First Center Head Song Siyong

The newly established Robot Business Center will operate as a full-fledged business organization with functions for business development, sales, and operations. The first head is Song Siyong, who previously served as the head of manufacturing capability enhancement at the Production Technology Institute and as the director of the Smart Factory Solution Center. Under the center, a "Robot Learning Data Factory Specialized Organization" will be established to rapidly acquire data capabilities, which are core to future robot competitiveness, and to upgrade the Robot Foundation Model (RFM) based on collected high-quality data, achieving substantial business synergies.

LG Electronics expects that this adjustment will reduce decision-making layers, ensure agile business execution, and accelerate the development of its robotics business through the internalization of core technologies and cost competitiveness enhancement. As an independent and full-fledged organization, cooperation with group subsidiaries such as LG CNS and LG AI Research Institute, as well as global tech giants, is expected to become smoother.

Going forward, LG Electronics will build on its existing subsidiaries Robostar (industrial use) and Bear Robotics (commercial use), adding home robots led by this Robot Business Center to form a "three-pillar" strategy to capture the market, constructing a portfolio covering various industries, services, and daily spaces. The company has designated this year as the foundational year for solidifying its robotics business, aiming not only for finished product manufacturing but also for core component businesses such as actuators, data generation, and learning data factories, to become a "comprehensive robot solution enterprise." To this end, the company is building a large-scale robot learning data factory within the Yangjae R&D Campus in Seocho-gu, Seoul, with a target to begin operations within the year. Additionally, leveraging over 60 years of accumulated motor technology, LG Electronics is preparing for domestic production of robot core component actuators and plans to supply them to external customers in the future to advance commercialization.
