en.Wedoany.com Reported - Deep saturation diving is a key core technology for deep-sea operations. At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office this afternoon, Wang Lei, Director of the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, stated that in the first half of this year, the sea trial of deep saturation diving equipment was successfully completed in the South China Sea, laying a solid foundation for the next step of 500-meter saturation diving manned operations.
China's saturation diving technology has undergone over 50 years of exploration and research. In the 1970s, the Shanghai Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport formed a research team to begin exploring and studying saturation diving technology. In 2006, it independently developed 200-meter saturation diving operation technology, achieving a breakthrough from zero in China's saturation diving and establishing the capability for 200-meter saturation diving operations. In 2014, China set a national saturation diving record of 313.5 meters using saturation diving in the South China Sea. In 2021, the Shanghai Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport successfully completed China's first 500-meter saturation diving land-based manned experiment, marking China as one of the few countries capable of saturation diving at depths of 500 meters.
Wang Lei stated that the continuous breakthroughs in deep saturation diving technology provide technical support for efficiently handling and responding to major underwater accidents, and serve as an important pillar for ensuring the safety of China's maritime transportation and marine environment. In the next step, the Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport will continue to deeply explore and advance the research and development of saturation diving technology, steadily improving China's deep-water rescue capabilities, emergency salvage capabilities, and marine engineering operation capabilities.
