en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the 2026 Smart Mine Development Conference (Sichuan-Chongqing), co-hosted by China University of Mining and Technology and the China Association of Work Safety, was held at the Tivoli Hotel in Chengdu, under the theme "Technology Empowerment · Safety Enhancement." Over 600 industry representatives from relevant government departments, mining enterprises, research institutes, and technology suppliers attended the conference, with more than 30 speakers and over 30 exhibitors showcasing and exchanging ideas on-site.
In his address, Li Kefang, Vice President of the China Association of Work Safety, pointed out that the Sichuan-Chongqing region shoulders the dual mission of safeguarding national industrial and supply chain security and promoting regional energy coordinated development, and should strive to become a national model for cross-regional smart mine collaborative development. Wang Sufeng, former First-Level Inspector of the Department of Regulations, Science and Technology of the National Mine Safety Administration, systematically reviewed China's achievements in mine intelligent construction: the number of national mine accidents and fatalities have significantly decreased by 75.33% and 79.51%, respectively. By the end of 2025, 1,004 coal mines nationwide had built 2,144 intelligent mining and excavation faces. Liu Jianzhong, Vice President of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group, shared cases of artificial intelligence applications in coal mine excavation, transportation, and safety monitoring, and predicted explosive growth in coal mine robot clusters and intelligent decision-making systems.
Attendees reached three consensuses: intelligent construction is a mandatory task for the Sichuan-Chongqing mining industry; it should start with state-owned and central enterprises, thereby driving the transformation of private enterprises; and emphasis should be placed on industrial ecosystem cooperation, with an operations-oriented approach to achieve cost reduction and efficiency gains through standardization and customization. The conference also featured live photo and video streaming, attracting over 50,000 online viewers, with related reports from Xinhua News Agency and others receiving 500,000 page views.
This conference established an important platform for technical exchange and industrial cooperation for mine intelligent construction in the Sichuan-Chongqing region, playing a positive role in promoting the digital transformation of regional mines.
