en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the 2026 Titanium Industry Annual Conference and the 2nd Resource Security & Green Smelting Development Conference was held in Panzhihua, Sichuan Province, China. Guided by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and hosted by its Titanium-Zirconium-Hafnium-Vanadium Branch and Pangang Group, the conference focused on the theme "Securing Resource Safety, Empowering Industrial Development," attracting nearly 300 attendees.
Ge Honglin, President of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, stated in his opening address that in 2025, China's production of titanium ore, sponge titanium, and titanium materials reached 3.385 million tons (calculated as oxide), 281,000 tons, and 183,000 tons respectively, accounting for 35%, 72.6%, and 68% of global output, further solidifying its position as the "world's largest titanium producer and consumer." He pointed out that the titanium industry still faces challenges such as an imbalance between upstream raw material production and downstream application promotion, significant bottlenecks in high-quality resources, and difficulties in green and low-carbon transformation.
Zhang Hongjun, Party Secretary and Chairman of Pangang Group, stated that Pangang will accelerate the construction of a new generation of comprehensive utilization technology system for Panxi vanadium-titanium resources. Fan Jiyue, Mayor of Panzhihua, said that Panzhihua is committed to building a world-class vanadium-titanium industrial base, deeply promoting the transformation of "Panxi ore" into "high-end materials."
This conference focused on core topics such as increasing titanium ore reserves and production, green and digital transformation, and tackling high-end manufacturing technologies, thereby building industry consensus to promote the high-quality development of the titanium industry.
