en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Brazilian government has launched the Private Communications Network of the Federal Public Administration (Red Privada de Comunicación de la Administración Pública Federal), an infrastructure designed to connect government agencies through a dedicated network, making them independent of commercial telecommunications networks.

As one of the complementary measures of the 2021 5G auction, the project will receive an investment of 1 billion reais (approximately 193.4 million US dollars) and is expected to be completed by December 2027. For the mobile network, the project adopts a RAN Sharing model, utilizing existing access infrastructure, while the core network is dedicated to the government. Implementation is carried out by the 3.5GHz Band Management Entity (EAF), and network operations will be handled by Telebras.

In the first phase, the private mobile network will begin connecting the Federal District Military Police, the Brazilian Army, the Chamber of Deputies Police, and the Federal Senate Police through an encrypted and interoperable infrastructure. This integration allows agencies that previously used independent systems to share communications on the same platform for critical operations and security missions. Meanwhile, the first segment of the private fixed network has also been put into operation. The National Mining Agency (ANM) unit in Aracaju became the first customer of this infrastructure, which connects 12 public buildings via 75.5 kilometers of dedicated fiber optics.

In this phase, the National Social Security Institute (INSS), the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), the National Department of Works Against Drought (DNOCS), the Ministry of Labor and Employment, and the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) have also been connected. According to the Ministry of Communications (Ministerio de las Comunicaciones), this private network aims to ensure the security of strategic communications in public administration, reducing reliance on commercial networks during public security operations, large-scale events, and emergencies.

According to the Ministry of Communications' schedule, the next activation of the fixed network is planned for September, covering cities such as Macapá, Rio Branco, Goiânia, and Vitória. The infrastructure includes nearly 6,500 connection points and employs encryption mechanisms to protect data traffic. It is expected to gradually expand until it covers public institutions nationwide.
