en.Wedoany.com Reported - Within the framework of the 275th anniversary celebrations of the founding of Jáchal, Argentina, a reinforced well supplying water to the Villa Mercedes water treatment plant was officially inaugurated, funded by the Fideicomiso de Mina Gualcamayo (Gualcamayo Mine Trust Fund).

The Governor of San Juan, community authorities, and representatives from Gualcamayo attended the ceremony, highlighting the importance of this project in improving the local drinking water supply. The new infrastructure will enhance system operational capacity, providing more efficient and safer service to thousands of residents in Villa Mercedes, Gran China, La Frontera, Costa Canal, and surrounding areas.

The project investment exceeds 230 million pesos, with partial funding provided by the Gualcamayo Mine Trust Fund. In addition to the well, the works include a comprehensive renovation of the reservoir, replacement of pipelines, and improvements to facilities operated by the Unión Vecinal Arce de Mayorga (Arce de Mayorga Neighborhood Association), carried out in coordination with OSSE and various provincial government ministries.

The new project investment exceeds 230 million pesos. In addition to the well, work was carried out to improve the water system.

Gabriel Corvo, General Manager and CEO of Minas Argentinas, stated that sustainable mining means collaborating with local and provincial governments to ensure drinking water supply, which is a cornerstone for the development of Jáchal, the health of its residents, and building a prosperous future. The inauguration coincided with activities organized by the municipal government to commemorate the county's anniversary, in which Gualcamayo actively participated. He noted that this is a moment to proudly reflect on local history and look toward the future, adding that the company will continue to work with institutions, authorities, and residents to ensure that the benefits of mining translate into tangible progress.

Since commencing operations in 2009, Gualcamayo, through a public-private partnership mechanism, has funded over 15 strategic projects in the Jáchal department, covering areas such as infrastructure, health, education, and basic services. Key initiatives include expanding drinking water systems in Jáchal, Huaco, San Roque, and Villa Mercedes; restoring the Canal del Norte (North Canal), with 60% of funding from the trust fund; building the San Roque Hospital and Huaco Hospital; constructing the Papa Francisco Sports Center; and renovating the Fray Justo Santa María de Oro Normal School.

Minas Argentinas noted that these contributions are part of a sustained regional development policy over its 17 years of operation in the department. Detailed information on all initiatives has been compiled in the Sustainability Report and the special publication Our Contribution to the Community, which are available for consultation.
