en.Wedoany.com Reported - West Virginia American Water will implement a $166,000 infrastructure upgrade project on Lakota Road in Fayetteville.

Company President Scott Wyman stated that the company will continue to invest in infrastructure upgrades across the entire system, and the Lakota Road project will benefit Fayetteville customers while helping the company continue to provide safe, clean, and reliable drinking water to the community.

The project will replace 860 feet of aging pipe between Beckwith Road and the end of Lakota Road, upgrading to a 2-inch PVC main line. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, with road restoration work to be finished in the fall of 2026. Traffic controls will be in place during construction, with work hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

This project is part of West Virginia American Water's ongoing statewide infrastructure upgrade plan for 2026, which totals more than $129 million in investment to support the economic health of communities across the company's service areas. Economic impact studies show that every $1 million invested in water infrastructure creates more than 10 jobs in the local economy.

Over the past decade, the company has invested more than $805 million in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades across the state to address aging infrastructure issues, including the installation of more than 168 miles of new drinking water mains.

During construction, customers may experience temporary service interruptions, water discoloration, or lower-than-normal water pressure. The contractor will expedite work as much as possible to minimize the duration of these temporary inconveniences. Customers experiencing leaks, main breaks, or other water-related emergencies can submit service requests through the company's website.
