en.Wedoany.com Reported - Lufthansa has adjusted its Airbus A380 deployment for the first quarter of 2027: In January and February, the aircraft type will be withdrawn from the Munich to Los Angeles and San Francisco routes in the United States, while A380 flights on the Munich to Bangkok and Mumbai routes in Asia will be increased.

Headquartered in Cologne, Lufthansa is Germany's flag carrier and a founding member of the Star Alliance. The company is proceeding with a business class cabin refurbishment program for its A380 fleet, which will reduce the number of business class seats to enhance the onboard experience for premium travelers. The A380 will be temporarily replaced by the Airbus A350-900 on these U.S. routes.

The adjustment window for the Los Angeles route runs from January 11 to February 26, 2027. During this period, Lufthansa will withdraw the A380 from the route between Munich Airport (MUC) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in California, USA. The route was originally scheduled to operate seven weekly flights, six of which were operated by the A380 and one by the A350-900; after the adjustment, all flights during this period will be operated by the A350-900.

The San Francisco route will also see reduced A380 capacity. From January 16 to February 27, 2027, the six weekly Munich to San Francisco (SFO) flights originally scheduled to be operated by the A380 will be switched to the A350-900. After the adjustment, the route will be operated daily by the A350-900.

A Lufthansa spokesperson told Simple Flying last month: "The period from January to the end of February is traditionally the weakest in terms of demand. (...) To take this seasonality into account, schedule adjustments are common practice."

On the Asian routes, from January 16 to February 26, 2027, A380 flights on the Munich to Bangkok (BKK) route will increase from one to two daily departures. LH774 will depart Munich at 4:25 p.m. daily, and LH772 will depart at 10:10 p.m.; the return flights LH775 and LH773 will depart Bangkok at 10:50 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., respectively.

The Indian market will also receive a capacity boost. From January 11 to February 27, 2027, the Munich to Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) route will be operated five times weekly by the A380, replacing the previous A350-900. India is an important winter destination for Lufthansa's A380, and the airline has scheduled the aircraft type to operate daily on the Munich to Delhi (DEL) route.

Lufthansa is implementing a cabin refurbishment for its A380 fleet, reducing the number of business class seats by ten, with the layout changing from a 2-2-2 configuration with six seats abreast to a 1-2-1 configuration with four seats abreast. Under the new layout, every business class passenger will have direct aisle access, a convenience not available to passengers in window seats under the old layout.

According to aeroLOPA data, Lufthansa's A380 cabin configuration comprises First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Before the refurbishment, the seat counts for each cabin were 8, 78, 52, and 371, respectively; after the refurbishment, they are 8, 68, 52, and 371, with only Business Class being reduced.

Lufthansa announced in April that the first of its eight A380s had been refurbished, with the entire fleet expected to complete the upgrade by mid-2027. The above schedule information is sourced from Aero Routes.
