en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Western Services and Commerce School (Escola de Serviços e Comércio do Oeste, ESCO) inaugurated a new Specialized Computer Technology Center (Centro Tecnológico Especializado de Informática, CTE) in Torres Vedras on June 26, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência, PRR), aiming to strengthen practical learning in programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.

The new space is designed to meet the needs of the business network in the Western region, marking a new phase in the school's development. Since 1992, the school has been adjusting its training courses to align with the region's economic and social development.

According to ESCO, the center aims to bring students closer to real learning environments, promote the practical application of knowledge, and develop skills such as autonomy, critical thinking, and adaptability.

Principal Júlia Alfaiate stated that the new CTE stems from the belief that teaching means providing students with tools to understand, experiment with, and apply knowledge, emphasizing the importance of close guidance and immediate feedback in the learning process. She also advocated for a school that is "rigorous but inclusive," allowing each student space to develop knowledge, discover their role, and build autonomy to actively participate in the world around them.

Today, ESCO is a reference vocational school in the Western region, offering training courses in software development, interactive content production, health, tourism, sports, management, catering, and community intervention.
