en.Wedoany.com Reported - Samsung Electronics announced on June 30, 2026, that it has completed a proof-of-concept experiment of the wireless network speed optimization system "RSO (RAN Speed Optimizer)" utilizing artificial intelligence on KDDI's commercial 5G SA network.

The experiment, conducted over several months starting in the second half of 2025, took place in Tokyo and surrounding urban areas, suburbs, and rural regions. Using 100MHz of TDD frequency in the 3.7GHz band, the AI model was trained across hundreds of cells under varying traffic and network conditions. Results showed an average 31% improvement in 5G communication speed across the entire test area during peak hours, with a maximum increase of 52% in urban areas.

RSO is an AI solution that optimizes wireless parameters for each base station cell. Unlike cluster-level methods that apply the same settings to multiple cells, RSO analyzes site environment data via AI to recommend optimal parameters for each individual cell. This solution is part of Samsung's AI network operations product portfolio, "Samsung CognitiV Network Operations Suite (NOS)."

The left side shows the traditional method applying the same cluster-level parameters to multiple cells; the right side shows the AI model optimizing parameters for each cell. The far right displays a 5G downlink throughput average increase of 31% and maximum increase of 52%.

KDDI network executive Kazuhiro Furuhata stated that through this experiment, "we confirmed that individual base station cell tuning, long considered a challenge, can be achieved with AI." Both parties plan to further advance AI-driven commercial network operations in the future.
