en.Wedoany.com Reported - STMicroelectronics announced that its narrowband IoT module ST87M01 has obtained market access certifications for North America and Brazil, laying the foundation for entering the global connectivity market. The module series has received certifications from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Personal Cellular Certification Integration Committee (PTCRB), Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel).

Based on the NB-IoT Release 15 standard, the ST87M01 supports cellular communication and integrates optional indoor and outdoor positioning and asset tracking capabilities via satellite navigation systems (GNSS) and Wi-Fi positioning, making it a compact and efficient module. The module features a current consumption of less than 0.5µA in standby mode and less than 1.2µA in Power Saving Mode (PSM).

STMicroelectronics has partnered with global IoT network operator Onomondo to offer a combined package of certified modules and communication infrastructure to the market. Plans include launching a dedicated evaluation kit usable across North America, as well as solutions supporting applications such as smart meters, smart streetlights, and sensors for livestock and agricultural monitoring. Domenico Arrigo, Head of Business Operations for STMicroelectronics' Application-Specific Products Division, stated that obtaining FCC, PTCRB, and ISED certifications means the company is ready for IoT deployments across the United States and Canada. Through the partnership with Onomondo, customers can leverage a proven global connectivity platform to build, manage, and scale applications more quickly and reliably in North America.
