en.Wedoany.com Reported - Egypt's National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has granted a license to the new digital division of construction group Hassan Allam, allowing it to operate data centers and provide cloud computing services.
Hassan Allam Digital Infrastructure stated that it plans to support this initiative with an initial investment of $400 million. The data centers will serve public and private sector clients, including government agencies, financial institutions, and local and international enterprises.

The project will be developed through a strategic partnership with Cairo-based early-stage venture capital firm A15, which invests in digital products and startups in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Mohamed Magdy Allam, Managing Director of Hassan Allam Digital Infrastructure, stated that this milestone is a crucial step in supporting the growing demand for data center services, cloud computing, artificial intelligence applications, and the broader data-driven economy. The company is building a future-ready digital platform to attract high-value investments and help position Egypt as a leading regional hub for technology, innovation, and digital services.
Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindy, stated at the license issuance event on June 15 that this decision reflects Egypt's commitment to making data centers and cloud computing key pillars of the digital economy. Hindy met with his counterparts from the Ministries of Electricity and Foreign Trade last month, emphasizing the importance of integrating government efforts to accelerate Egypt's national strategy for data centers and cloud computing.
Egypt's Minister of Electricity, Mahmoud Essmat, stated that his ministry has a clear plan to support the localization of data centers. He noted that renewable energy is expanding and is expected to account for 45% of the energy mix within the next two years, while long-term power supply agreements will be offered to investors.
Egypt's national strategy for data centers and cloud computing aims to position the country as a major digital and submarine cable hub connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The strategy integrates renewable energy investments, incentives for foreign investors, and digital sovereignty, and is linked to Egypt's digital vision plan, which seeks to modernize the nation through digital transformation and skills development.
